In November 2022, the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) hosted a forum in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, alongside the COP27 climate summit. The forum, themed “From Ambition to Action”, brought together climate leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to showcase Saudi Arabia’s environmental commitments. Key objectives included achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2060, planting 10 billion trees, protecting 30% of land and marine areas, and promoting regional collaboration through the Middle East Green Initiative (MGI).
My role focused on translating these initiatives into clear, engaging social media content across Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn, connecting global audiences with the initiative’s goals and milestones.
As Social Media Designers & Content Creators, I developed digital visuals that highlighted the initiative’s objectives and milestones. Working closely with the communications team, I created post templates, infographics, and social campaigns tailored for Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The challenge was to make complex climate goals visually clear, while maintaining the SGI’s brand identity and aligning with the sustainability narrative of COP27.
The creative direction cantered around clean layouts, bold typography, and nature-inspired color palettes that reinforced SGI’s visual identity. Each design was built to emphasize clarity and engagement—whether breaking down emission targets, spotlighting carbon capture projects, or amplifying regional tree-planting goals. By combining data with strong visual storytelling, the campaign connected with both regional audiences and the wider global climate community.
Working on the Saudi Green Initiative social media campaign gave me the chance to design within the context of a high-profile, global event. The challenge wasn’t just about making visuals look good, but about building a digital identity that could live up to the scale of the initiative itself. Every post had to balance professionalism with approachability, using clear visual hierarchies to guide attention and colour choices that echoed themes of growth, renewal, and sustainability.
It was about storytelling through visuals—making people stop, read, and feel the weight of the message while still keeping the feed clean and modern. Beyond the immediate deliverables, this project sharpened my ability to adapt branding across multiple formats, manage visual coherence under tight deadlines, and think about design not only as decoration but as a powerful tool for shaping perception and driving engagement.
This project challenged me to turn complex sustainability goals into simple, engaging visuals. By using clean layouts, bold colours, and consistent branding, I built a social media campaign that felt cohesive across platforms while still flexible enough to adapt to fast-paced event updates.
I focused on creating consistency across platforms so that whether someone saw a quick scroll on Instagram or a detailed infographic on LinkedIn, the campaign felt cohesive and instantly recognizable. What made the project exciting was the responsibility of distilling technical language and large-scale climate goals into designs that ordinary audiences could connect with in seconds.
